Tour de Suisse with Lapierre athlete Stefan Küng

Stage 1 of the Tour de Suisse was on the agenda. In the south of Lake Zurich, the Tour starts with an almost 13 km long time trial course in Einsiedeln.

Our Swiss time trial specialist Stefan Küng started in his home race and put the competition in their place.

The 29-year-old left the two Belgians Evenepoel and van Aert behind him and secured the first stage victory of the Tour de Suisse.

Victories were not a matter of course for the two-time European time trial champion in recent times, however. "The last few times I was always close, but I never managed it. That's why it's a great relief to win here in front of my home audience and my family," Küng said happily in the finish interview.
