New XR : Ride your next shadow

The XR is a name that resonates in the mind of a large number of mountain bikers. Inspired by the history of our full suspension cross country MTB and developed for top-flight performance, the new XR accentuates its competitive character to offer the perfect combination of weight, pedalling efficiency and handling. Available in two versions, XR and XRM for marathon events, this bike is aimed at riders engaged in the quest for victory.

Designed for performance at the highest level

For the development of this latest generation of the XR platform, our teams went back to the drawing board with a blank piece of paper. As international races are getting both faster and more technical, we knew that we had to completely restructure our vision of the cross-country MTB to align ourselves with the demands of the discipline. With a lighter frame, a new design and both innovative and unique suspension kinematics, our teams have managed to produce a bike that has the ability to perform at the highest levels of competition.

    New geometry

    The geometry considers the equilibrium of front and rear suspension to maintain balance and the centre of gravity in all situations. Without being radical, nor extreme the new XR and XRM are positioned in the emerging sector “down country” which brings enduro inspiration to modern cross-country bikes! Our work has been to find the perfect balance for a bike designed for competition yet is dynamic with a short reactive rear triangle but reassuring and stable when descending.
  • Lapierre XR - New kinematic

    New kinematic and suspension optimization

    The frame has been lightened and completely redesigned around a new suspension kinematic, where the rear triangle has been stripped of the pivot point between the seat stays and the chain stays. This new rear suspension called “Optimised sensitivity” OS has the role of bringing comfort and function to the frame despite removing the chain stay / seat stay pivot. The high pivot point at the BB has the advantage of optimising kinematics for a 32 to 36 tooth chainring as well as cancelling the “kick back” effect during compression. Our suspension has no impact on chain tension during compression which delivers a stable and efficient platform for pedalling.
  • XR Lapierre - Carbon UD SLI technology

    New carbon construction UD SLI

    To make our new XR/XRM frames we have further improved the constituent parts at the heart of a bike: brand new unidirectional Torayca carbon fibres. These are both lighter and more resistant, each frame is made up of over 300 separate pieces of carbon. Thanks to these fibres it is possible to reduce the thickness of the tubes wherever necessary and reduce weight. This new process called UD SLI is now the highest level of carbon construction at Lapierre
