Lapierre, 4th in the Tour de France!

Let’s remember just one thing from the 2025 Tour de France: Team Picnic PostNL is now among the elite of world cycling! Through the incredible efforts of its riders—who delivered in the sprints (a 3rd place for Tobias Lund Andresen in Valencia, 4th and 5th places for Pavel Bittner) as well as several top-10 finishes in the mountains thanks to the feats of Oscar Onley, who finished 4th overall in the Tour de France—our team has shown the world its resilience in the most prestigious cycling race on Earth.

The recipe for this success is multifaceted. First, the team was built on a subtle mix of experience—led by team captain Warren Barguil—and young talent that pushed forward on every stage, even the trickiest ones. But most of all, what stood out was the unwavering spirit around team leader Oscar Onley: with an average age of just 25—and five riders under 25—our young squad stood its ground against the GC contenders and the challengers for the white jersey alike. This is a major collective performance, and one that promises an even brighter future for the young Scot: at only 22 years old, he is now a legitimate contender for a Grand Tour podium—as early as next year. His many placements throughout the Tour and his remarkable tenacity in the mountains place him firmly among the new generation of athletes ready to shake up the established hierarchy. In 2026, Oscar Onley will aim even higher—perhaps for yellow or white. And so will our Xelius DRS!

A powerful and versatile bicycle

Team Picnic PostNL’s 2025 Tour de France bike holds many secrets behind Oscar Onley’s outstanding performance. Starting with its carbon frame, which was built with an ultra-light, custom-developed lay-up, designed to respond to the most explosive mountain attacks. Paired with a more aerodynamic fork and a special paint job that reduces the bike’s total weight, the Xelius DRS used on this Tour de France also featured carefully selected components to enhance its responsiveness. The Ursus wheels are a perfect example—helping keep the bike right around the 7kg mark.

“It’s a more versatile bike than what we had before,” says Warren Barguil, who also highlighted how stiff and reactive the frame felt when out of the saddle. Beyond its playful nature, the bike had already been validated at the Critérium du Dauphiné by Romain Bardet: “There’s something special about it for climbing. The Xelius DRS climbs really well, especially when standing. That’s a big plus for me, since I don’t like to climb seated.” Oscar Onley agrees—and his fiery, attacking temperament helped him finish just shy of the Tour de France podium!

Oscar Onley – Attack in His Blood

When young Oscar is asked in his small hometown of Kelso what he dreams of becoming one day, his answer is striking: a breakaway cyclist. His attacking spirit was born early. And with it, a young athlete who, despite his precocity, refuses to blend into the invisible mass of the peloton. Oscar Onley carves out his path with this philosophy always in mind: wasn’t it through relentless pure-climber skirmishes that he earned his stage win at the Tour de Suisse and his 3rd place overall? Yet, the Scot is aiming higher, further, grander—and wants to be remembered only for his boldness. The Grand Tours, with their three weeks of electrifying racing, seem destined to become (or are already becoming) his playground for daring moves. With some major feats in store? Without a doubt. See you on the 2026 Tour de France, Oscar!

I don't want to be a passive rider. I want to be someone who attacks constantly, who’s always at the front of the race. That's the only thing that motivates me!
